Rainbow Woman

You are a world of colours,
So vivid to my naked eye, so sweet to my mind,
In the green, yellow and red of your black hair,
I get lost; stop and stare,
I’m enthralled by the soft, smooth sheen of your rose lips,
Locked in a most pleasant of cages between your pearly whites,
Your nose mirrors the reassuring story of my life, rising and falling from many sides, all the time,
I’m lost in the imaginary gaze you throw my way from behind your eyelids.

I feel that this indescribable joy I’m experiencing as I see you laugh,
Is a direct and complete reflection of your ecstasy, worthy of no photograph,
But alas! I left you behind for being half and half.

Yours never in perpetuity,

Evans Mbora Campbell.
